Arnicle
Farm, a working sheep unit situated at the head of
Barr Glen offers visitors the chance to view first
hand the workings of a west Highland stock farm. See
shearing, lambing, working sheep dogs etc and enjoy
the many and varied walks around the farm. Birds,
animals and plant life are everywhere and for the
enthusiast some of the less well known species can be
found. There is also a trout loch ten minutes from the
end of a forest road where fishing can be had by
arrangement. |
| For
those with historical interests the area is dotted
with cup and ring marked stones, circle dwellings and
duns from ancient times. From more recent farming
times there are numerous limekilns, some of which are
quite well preserved. Most of these are marked on
ordinance survey map of the area and with the help of
some local knowledge can be found fairly easily |

Owl Centre, Campbeltown |
| Why
not enjoy a fantastic visit to the Owl Centre in
Campbeltown. A family run business owned by Rod and
Niccy Angus. Here you will discover the largest
collection of owls open to the public in Scotland. Now
you can meet face-to-face the birds that you've only
heard as a distant "Twit Twoo". You'll discover many
varieties from around the world, from the giant Eurasian
Eagle Owl to the tiny Scops Owl. Our hope is that these
awesome birds and the issues concerning their survival
will inspire young and old alike to have a deeper
respect for wildlife and the wider environment.
